Rosalie Muspratt (1906-1976), who also wrote under the name Jasper John, was the author of tales of horror and the supernatural and was later active in the Girls’ Magazine, the publication of the Modern Girls’ Club.

Though two of her stories were anthologized in Montague Summers Supernatural Omnibus, the bulk of her writing has been exceedingly difficult to find, especially the material offered in the present collection, which consists of the entire contents of her collection Tales of Terror, of which only a handful of copies are known to exist, and the title story, which itself is quite rare.

Content: Althorpe Abbey / The Castle of Shadows / The Foxes' Revenge / The Green God / The Venetian Ghost Story / The Tricolour Death / A Ghost of The Southern Cross / The Method of Elia Stoianoff / The Curse of Ravensmore / The Bride / The Sisters of Lone Sands Hall / The Mysterious Marriage / The House of the Skull

Standard hardcover edition of 140 copies, thread-stitched and lithographically printed on a fine 120 g/m Italian Sahara paper with vermilion 140 g/m endpapers. The cover is a high quality Italian canvas with stamping on the front and spine in red.
